Comments Thread For: Wach's Promoter Explodes Over Steroid Allegations

A real storm is brewing within the camp of Polish heavyweight Mariusz Wach (27-1, 15 KOs). The team is very upset with a recent report that appeared in the popular German publication Bild, which alleged that Wach's pre-fight drug test, connected to last month's fight with Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 50 KOs), showed traces of anabolic steroids. Wach's "A" sample tested positive, and the German Boxing Federation is allowing him to appeal by having the "B" sample tested. If the "B" sample also comes up positive, Wach could face a potential one-year ban.

This is the way it's going to be until there's a standardized and comprehensive testing regime. It'll just be scandal after scandal. Sometimes it'll be low profile guys like Wach, every now and then it's going to be a big one.

this is getting bad. i'm for stiffer penalties for people who have been cought. If the sport gave a 2 year and a million dollar fine for a 1st offence and booted for a 2nd it might solve the issue. I live in canada where u get 15years for murder, 2 years for didlin boys(graham James hockey coach), 4 years for drunk vehicle manslaughter(london ont man killing his 2 friends drunk) and talkin on a cell phone is a 150 dollar fine. my question is why not? 2 years is a very long time to be out of the ring and might be 2 much for some to handle, so it might make them think a bit more. it's just getting too bad. peace ya'll

This is a true mess now. So many fighters must have been on something for so many years now - nows time to clean up. Its allgood because minus the power pellets - the true colors are revealed....reduced aggression/punching power...look @ Berto: a year or so ago Guererro would have been KO'd by those uppercuts - no disrespect for Guererros chin/performance that night.

How do we know if he really popped or not? How reliable was that source?

Let's say this was true, why is he mad? Cause he didn't get informed first that way he can have a chance to sweep it under the rug ?

So a fighter takes a test and the result should be given to the press before the fighter?

Not the first time some **** leaks out. I'm guessing it should be put in the contract? Not sure if it was or not.

Assume your fave fighter is on PEDs until further notice.
