Comments Thread For: David Price is Hoping To Land a Title Shot in 2013

David Price hopes to fight for the world heavyweight title this time next year as he maps out plans for a "massive" 2013.

The unbeaten Liverpudlian rounded off a productive 2012 by retaining his British and Commonwealth titles against Matt Skelton at Aintree on Friday night.

The impressive second-round knockout of the veteran was his fourth solid win of the year and allows him to set his sights on bigger and better things in the new year.

Promoter Frank Maloney expects to pitch the 29-year-old in with American two-time world title challenger Tony Thompson at the Liverpool Echo Arena in February before attempting to make a fight between Price and fellow Briton Dereck Chisora, subject to the Londoner regaining his British licence.

Price will K.o Thompson if that fight happens and he will beat Chisora even though Chisora's style is all wrong for him.

I would like him to fight Helenius next year and then Povetkin and then finally a Klitschko

He should fight Odlanier Solis and Helenius before June 2013

I'd like to see him face Helenius.

He's a big guy and would be some sort of prep for a Klitschko fight

Solis is irrelevant and fights nothing like a Klitschko so it's a doubly pointless fight

I have a feeling Helenius will be 'given' to Wlad/Vitali in early 2013.

I just hope Price steps-up and fights some named contenders. Thompson is a start - he's pretty offensive and has an OK chin. Hopefully after that he'll go after the EBU title, and then take on another named, top 10 HW.

Price/Helenius is an intriguing matchup, but I definitely think Wlad dominates them both at this point in time. Still, rather see him face guys like them than Mormecks and Thompsons.

Price needs to start fighting outside of the UK. He's supposed to fight the winner of Towers/Browne & if it's the later I hope it's in Australia!
