Following Saturday's big fight, the critics attacked IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute, who struggled to win a close twelve round decision over inexperienced Denis Grachev at Montreal's Bell Centre. In May, Bute was stopped in five rounds by Carl Froch of Nottingham. An unexpected person has come to Bute's defense. Former light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal, often viewed as Bute's domestic rival, is defending his countryman's performance.

After watching Bute vs Grachev I'm gonna give Bute a bit more credit than some of the initial articles gave him. He definitely was a bit less fluent with punches and his timing wasn't 100% but round 12 was pretty impressive how many power shots he threw knowing that Grachev could have KO'd him if he connected. Props to Bute for the win but Froch still KO's him like last time.
