Comments Thread For: Larry Merchant Tells 50 Cent: Welcome To The Big City!

Emotions came to a head between former friends Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Friday night when the two men exchanged salvos with one another on their personal Twitter accounts.

Once looked at like brothers to one another, it now appears that the personal and professional differences between Mayweather and 50 Cent have become far too serious for them to ever consider rekindling their bond.

The two were thought to have been collaborating on a promotional company titled TMT Promotions but in the wake of the fallout, 50 Cent has moved in his own direction while still finding himself aligned with former champion Yuriorkis Gamboa, IBF featherweight titlist Billy Dib, and super middleweight contender Andre Dirrell while looking to launch his own SMS Promotions.

“ Right now, he’s just another wannabe promoter with a few fighters, none of whom are big attractions. So, whatever his reputation is in the music world, doesn’t necessarily translate into the boxing world.”

      well said larry

I don't think 50 cent is trying to prove anything now. He formed TMT with the hope that his best friend would do what he promised he would do. Floyd is the one who suggested the idea in the first place. The main goal of which is to get rid of GBP and Haymon. Where else could it have originated? When it came time for 50 to execute the plan, Floyd chickened out and made it appear it wasn't him who pitched all these things.

Fifty spent huge amounts of money buying out his boxers' contracts. Now, he just wants to recoup whatever he can recoup from his investment gone kaput.

How can someone take him seriously when he wants to match up Mayweather vs Gamboa. Gamboa is at 126 while Mayweather is at 147. Thats 20 lbs apart. Gamboa ducked Rios.

Billy Dib is trash anyway. Let's see if he gets the other two in the ring any time soon, or do they walk
It's not like his fighters could not be any MORE inactive than they already are
