Comments Thread For: Junior Witter: I'll Take Out Gavin By The Fourth Round

British Welterweight Champion Junior Witter say he’ll KO challenger Frankie Gavin inside four rounds when they clash at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, on Thursday 1st November, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/****** Ch. 546).

Bradford’s Witter, 38, a former WBC World Light-Welterweight Champion, makes the first defence of the Lonsdale belt that he won in May against Colin Lynes, turning back the clock to outpoint Lynes over twelve rounds.

With 48 fights under his belt and training at the famous Wincobank Gym in Sheffield, he says he’ll have too much experience for his 27-year-old challenger who’s unbeaten in 13 fights and making his first big step up.

Witter said, “I’ve got the experience, know-how and I’ve been there, seen it and done it, what has Frankie Gavin done so far?” [Click Here To Read More]

I'd have given Gavin one last chance it he were not fighting someone so awkward and hard to look against in Witter. I see him (Gavin) winning on points in a dull, close fight.

He really needs to buck his ideas up and knuckle down in the gym and with nutrition, ideally go to the States. But being a father, that is unlikely. I also worry about his power and move to Welterweight, he looks 'soft' and I'm sure he could make LWW with a strength & conditioning coach.

Gavin has great talent but little power. To have any chance at all of becoming a world class pro he needs to get back down to 140, stay there, fight often and keep in shape between bouts. Does he have the dedication and the will to do that? NO.

Hatton has already been asked about a potential Witter fight, he said no. It seems he is more focused on Brook and Khan from Britain.
