  • Comments Thread For: Thrills, Title Wins and Legend Says Goodbye at Barclays

By Thomas Gerbasi - BROOKLYN – After suffering a brutal fourth round knockout Saturday night at the hands of WBA / WBC junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia, Erik Morales may have wished that the New York State Athletic Commission pulled him from their Saturday rematch at Barclays Center after he tested positive for the banned substance Clenbuterol.

But the show went on, and it was a stellar performance for “Swift,” who defended his titles with a finality that led Morales to say that he had fought in the United States for the last time, likely leaving the door open for a final fight in his native Mexico.

It took around two minutes for the rivals to warm up, but in the final 60 seconds of the first round, both Morales and Garcia decided to test chins, and both passed. Whether that would remain to be the case was to be determined. But Morales, as fearless as ever, stood right in front of Garcia, starting and finishing the second round strong. In the middle, Garcia got off a series of hard shots as he pinned Morales to the ropes.

most every1 knew Morales was finished but it was hoe Danny beat him...a big confidence, career-moving forward win...Melvina Lathan of NYSAC is a disgrace for letting Morales, a 2x postive tested guy fight...she's 2 poltical and tied 2 the WBO & got the job only 4 her ***/color...she's needs 2 b relieved....

Good night of fights last night. Garcia repped Philly well! And Danny Jacobs scored KO of the night easily! Good show of power by Quillen but I hope he works on his stamina ASAP.

That was great business between GBP and Barclays now that was an event and more to come for us boxing fans. Showtime doing big things now that they cut MMA and Nascar budgets to have more money for boxing on Showtime. Remember when Showtime only had one good fight on the first saturday of every month and that was it not anymore they are spending a lot more money then HBO these days. In December they are paying Amir khan 2 mill to fight on the 15th. As a Boxing fan I think I am getting my money's worth on Showtime then I am with HBO. They paid 4 mill for the event last night.
