  • Comments Thread For: Andre Ward's World: Dawson Rocked, Shocked, Stopped

by Cliff Rold - A fight many worried would be a bore turned out to be a sensational showcase for the man who may be the best prime fighter in the world right now. 28-year old lineal World Super Middleweight Champion Andre Ward (26-0, 14 KO) of Oakland, California, successfully defended his WBC and WBA belts against outmatched 30-year old lineal and WBC World Light Heavyweight Champion Chad Dawson, scoring three knockdowns in the fight and forcing Dawson to surrender in the tenth in front of a hometown crowd at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.

It was a sort of dominance reminiscent of Floyd Mayweather’s win over Diego Corrales or Roy Jones Jr.’s undressing of James Toney.

Dawson, whose title was not on the line, came down the scale and weighed in at the Super Middleweight division limit of 168 lbs. Ward weighed the same. The referee was Steve Smoger. [Click Here To Read More]

I don't want to see Ward beating up on a near 40 year old, former welterweight thanks.

Ward should fight Huck or Hernandez.

Ummm... No. Neither guy will move up to 168 lbs to fight Ward anytime soon if ever.

If they stay at middleweight they'll have to face Golovkin. If they move up they'll have to face Ward.

Either way they have their work cut out for them.

Ward should go ahead and whip Kessler again, in Denmark this time. As long as they reward him handsomely to make it worth his time to go over there.

ward vs golovkin or ward vs direll are the only worthwhile fights to be made at SMW.

kessler and froch winner should also get a shot at ward but i think both kess and froch know that ward is a fighter who would hand them another loss quite handily. kess often mentions that it wasn't him on that against ward but hasn't really chased the rematch. same thing with carl who says hes a 'proud warrior' but clearly not proud enough to avenge the only defeat where he was beat handily.

Yup moving down in weight makes sense. Or fighting a smaller man.

He should move up to 175 there's nothing left for him at 168.

Yes he should fight someone at this age he'll 99.9% surely lose to again so that he can try to work his way back up to title contention he might be a warrior but if the fight makes no sense would add a pointless lose on his record why would you wanna do that to him.
