Comments Thread For: Klitschko-Wach: Big Dimensions Will Fuel Marketing Push

Wladimir Klitschko may be fighting someone in Polish challenger Mariusz Wach whose mammoth chin would make Jay Leno envious. But K2 Promotions managing director Tom Loeffler chose to focus on Wach’s height (6-7) in discussing his match-up with Klitschko on Nov. 10 for Klitschko’s WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO heavyweight straps.

The title says it all. The fact that Wach is Klitschko's size makes the fight intriguing. It does to me, at least.

I can't see that the height is any sort of drawing card. Perhaps they are making a big thing of it because there are no other attractions for this fight. s for me, the guy is unbeaten, has fair speed and seems to be very tough. All of which should make for a good fight. But...who knows??

Klitschko has fought probably a half-dozen opponents who were 6'6", and more than that who were 6'5". so what's the difference? The Klltschko PR originally was about the two brothers one 6'7" and the other 6'8". I've even read in an article that the height thing has been bumphed for PR, and he was really 6'5".

      Who cares??

I see your point, but Klitschko's last string of fights have been against much smaller guys, and it's not just Wach's height I am referring to. Wach is thick too.

His height is not gonna be an issue, as Wach doesn't really use it. But it makes for a good promotion for casual fans who think bigger is always better, and also for the critics who say Klitschko is size and nothing else.
Wasn't there also the rumor about HBO lying about all their fighters heights? And that Floyd is really only 5'6'' and all that?

What is the tagline? Giants or something?
Tbh Wach will probably be hard to put away, Wlad is actually quite underhand when fighting smaller fighters, he was pushing Mormecks head down so much that I began to question his sexuality...
Tempted to go to this for the craic, Hamburg is a lovely city. But the stadium and O2 world are just so awkward to get to.

A lot is down to the fighters too tbh and whether they go along with what is reported or challenge it.
I remember reading Hayes autobiography and recalling how he laughed when Boxrec reported he was 6'3".

This isn't competitive. Wach's too limited to trouble Wlad.
