Comments Thread For: Marroquin on The Rigondeaux Fallout, Facing Gonzalez

BoxingScene.com caught up with super bantamweight prospect Robert Marroquin (22-1) to get his thoughts on the fallout of his fight against WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux. The two were scheduled to clash on the televised portion of the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. versus Sergio Martinez pay-per-view fight that takes place on September 15th at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. While Marroquin is disappointed that he won't receive his first title shot, he understands Rigondeaux's situation and knows that it isn't the Cuban's fault.

It's a shame he can't fight, but it's no shame he won't fight Roberto. Fact is Roberto is too young and inexperienced for Guille. Guille was going to annihilate him IMO. The super-bantamweight division is super stacked and every champion (IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO) is very, very good; with Rigo probably being the best. I think Marroquin needs another year to even be mentioned with the current champs. In the mean time, a rematch against Leal would be great!

Robert has more fights and great back round. He's so ready for Rigo.

Nobody has really mentioned yet that this is a HUGE opportunity for Oscar G. if he can pull the upset.
