BAUTISTA TRAINING UPDATES FROM L.A.

Edito 'Ala' Villamor, the Filipino trainer for Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista, keeps fans abreast with the training activities of the WBO Asia Pacific bantam champ and no. 1 contender. Here are the highlights of Villamor's report to Philboxing.com:
Dec 4 - Arrived at LA airport; met by Michael Koncz at the airport; proceeded to the residence of Koncz in Orange County.
Dec 5 - Jogged in the morning; trained at Wild Card gym in the afternoon and sparred with Karen Harutyunyan,wbo-nabo superflyweight champion for 4 rounds. Bautista was quite sluggish due to jetlag.
Dec 6 - Shifted training to Boxing 2000 gym in Orange County near residence of Koncz.
Dec 7 - Sparred with Edgar Favian Vargas, Californian lightweight champion for 4 rounds. Rey was very impressive surprising the bigger vargas who outweighed him by almost 10 lbs; sparring was done in boxing 2000 gym.
Dec 8 - Bagging and punchmitt no sparring still trained in boxing 2000 gym because Freddie Roach was still in Germany to accompany one of his boxers Ikeke Kingsley who fought there.
Dec 9 - Rey sparred against Isael Nacarrete a super bantam for 3 rounds because the sparmate quit. Rey was impressive.
Dec 10 - Rey sparred again on this day againts former rated Art Simonyan who had fought israel vasquez for the ibf title. It was only 2 rounds sparring session at the Pound for Pound boxing gym because Rey was tired and fatigued.
Dec 12 - Went back to wild card gym since freddie roach was already back from germany sparred with two mexican brothers enrique and daniel cuevedo for 3 rounds each. Rey was quite sluggish and slow footed but still put up a good sparring.
Dec 13 - Light training with bagging and speedball with some calesthenics. Still adjusting to the cold weather and homesickness.
Dec 14 - Had a good sparring session with the mexican brothers enrique and daniel and this time Rey was in good condition and impressive but still tired due to his early morning jogging session. He sparred 8 rounds. wbc - ibf jr featherweight champion israel vasquez visited the wild card gym and everyone congratulated him for his victory .
Weather here very cold having difficulty adjusting but still rey training hard.
Rey is down now 121lbs expecting a tough fight on december 23.
