'Cheating, cheating, cheating,' was light-welterweight Manoj Kumar's verdict after losing his battle of Commonwealth champions with Briton Thomas Stalker as Indian grumbles at controversial Olympic scoring continued.

While Kumar complained, British boxing captain Stalker moved on to the quarter-finals and one win away from at least a bronze medal following the 20-16 win on Saturday.

Stalker, who won the lightweight Commonwealth Games in Delhi two years ago, cleverly utilised his sharper hand speed to land flurries of punches as the aggressive Kumar walked in looking for one shot. [Click Here To Read More]

Stalker looked bad but he still did enough on my card, everyone who loses is going to claim they got robbed

Not sure why Kumar is suggesting that Stalker is "cheating". It's not technically Stalker's fault, or the BOC's fault, if the judges are influenced by the crowd's noise. And IMO this was a pick'em fight that as a Brit, sure, I'm glad to see Stalker win. But I wouldn't have complained if Kumar got it on countback or something. This is the problem with this Olympics, everyone is accusing everyone else of being partisan while being extremey partisan themselves. Therefore very difficult to build up a realistic picture. On a side note, I agree that in the pro ring Kumar wins on aggression. Amateur boxing is a different sport.

Kumar clearly won the fight. He came on and was fighting his fight. Stalker was being stalked.

In amateur boxing, only the number of clean, scoring shots matter. What I'm getting from your post is an appreciation of Kumar's pressure and that "Stalker was being stalked". Aside from the clumsy attempt at being arch, amateur boxing isn't scored on those grounds, apart from on the grounds of a double countback.

It was a close fight and so should NOT be called a "robbery".
