Comments Thread For: Dawson, Miranda To Train Together For Ward, Bellew Bouts

BoxingScene.com has been advised that WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (31-1, 17KOs) will be joined in his Las Vegas training camp by veteran puncher Edison Miranda (35-7, 30KOs). The two boxers will train side by side, and spar, as they prepare for their upcoming fights. Dawson returns on September 8th, dropping down to 168-pounds to challenge WBC champion Andre Ward (25-0, 13, KOs) in a high-profile fight at the Oracle in Oakland, California. Miranda, also on September 8th, will travel to London to face hard-punching Tony Bellew (17-1, 11KOs). Miranda fought Ward in May of 2009, and lost a twelve round unanimous decision.

Not even Miranda, he should be sparring Froch for Bellew.

          Lol, I hear you.

And Hero... Come on, bro. Miranda needs to make it out of training not get a beatdown by Froch lol. Besides..Bellew not on Froch's level.

Yeah, no doubt, but Dawson levels apart both quality and style wise. i guess any quality work will help, plus Dawson is less likely to beat him up than Froch like you said.

I think Froch holds Bellew in high regard. I only started to see it in the Cleverly fight, before he was very unimpressive

I guess Miranda benefits from being in there with a top guy either way, so thats cool for him. for Dawson, only thing I can think of Miranda does have a great up-jab and he often follows-up combinations with that jab and that is something Ward is excellent at. It's one of his best punches imo and it hits guys when they think they are already outside of range, especially if they are simply moving straight back out in a line. he killed Kessler with that. Ward will sacrifice missing his first punch in a combination so that he can get close enough to hit you with the final two and he often finishes it with a jab that comes up.

Dawson sometimes either will back straight up or, at times, does not back up far enough out of range so hopefully the length of Miranda will give him an idea of where he needs to be against Ward. If he is able to step back and keep his distance, use slight angles, have Ward lunge here and there....I think Ward will find himself in no mans land more often than he will like.

miranda/bellew sounds like a good fight

It is good work for both guys. Miranda will work Dawson's ass off in sparring and Dawson is a top fighter that will give Miranda confidence against Bellew.
