The prime stuff is just to not give fighters their due credit for beating a good boxer.

Whats up with people claiming Tito and Jones were out of their primes when they lost? Jones just went to heavy and won a title and Tito demolished a solid Mayorga.

Why cant they just say their favorite fighter was beaten by a better boxer?

Roy Jones was not at his best against Tarver...

BUT.....that didn't stop me from thinking he would beat Tarver (fights 1 & 2).

I thought he'd beat Tarver, but he got blasted. So, all credit to Tarver.
Saying Jones wasn't at his best does not take away from Tarver's accomplishment.

There is a big difference between the crack head Whitaker that Tito fought and the Whitaker against DLH.

People knew Whitaker was not where he used to be, and you don't need to be a Whitaker enthusiast to acknowledge that.

But NO ONE was talking about "prime" with RJJ before he was beaten by Tarver. In fact, people were talking about him being the "all time greatest" boxer... remember that?
