  • Comments Thread For: Warren Plays Down Fears of Violence at Haye-Chisora

Frank Warren has denied Upton Park could be turned into a battleground for warring West Ham and Millwall fans on Saturday night.

The controversial grudge match between David Haye and Dereck Chisora will see the British rivals finish what they started in their infamous brawl in Munich in February.

Adding a sinister backdrop to the occasion is the potential for crowd trouble given that Bermondsey-born Haye is a Millwall supporter.

The concern is that the presence of Lions fans at Upton Park could provoke any Hammers attending the fight, but Warren stresses the Metropolitan Police Service are satisfied with the security arrangements in place.

It's deeply irresponsible for somebody to ignite this speculation regarding Millwall vs West Ham. For one thing you make people nervous about attending an event that should be perfectly safe. And more seriously you could give people the idea to turn it into a football thing. If the BBBofC have started this they should be ashmed, this idle speculation and scaremongering could result in people getting hurt.

I'm more concerned about Chisora doing something during the referee's instructions.

It's the media!!! Sky have given this fight about 2 minutes coverage despite it being the biggest british heavyweight fight of the last 15-20 years.
Don't get me wrong I think Frank Warren is a disgrace to real fans everywhere but the way the punch up in Munich has been blown out of all proportion is incredible. They need to get in the ring, sort it out and then let it be forgotten about.
BBBoC are an absolute joke. Their position has become completely out of touch.

Some boxers act bad, some boxers are bad. I don't think for one minute Haye will do anything, but Del Boy is a scarey customer inside and outside of the ring. If he starts with any antics before, during or after this fight, he's relegated to the circus side show of boxing, and will have nobody to blame but himself.

Decent odds for Haye victory by DQ. 25/1.

With Chisora, it's worth a punt.
