Comments Thread For: Cunningham: Bailey Rushing To Sign Retirement Papers

IBF welterweight champion Randall "The Knock-Out King" Bailey recently appeared on Boxingscene saying that he doesn't think a proposed September 8th clash against Devon Alexander "The Great" will actually happen. The Florida native said that he still hasn't received a contract for the fight and reiterated that he doesn't plan on traveling to Alexander's hometown of St. Louis, Missouri where the former junior welterweight champion is a considerable draw.

Unless Bailey is a big draw in Florida, common sense says the fight belongs in St. Louis... Ofcourse, Bailey is worried about getting robbed; however, the way I look at it, he doesn't have the skills to win a decision anyway. He's most likely gonna have to KO/TKO in order to win (and that's in any locale, IMO).

thats right, the fight can be anywhere and he still would have to ko him, bailey isn't a boxer with skills,he was losing to jones before the ko,besides it would be a boring fight with alexander,he's not as boring as jones is but the fight would be that way

Cunningham is always a good read. IMO hes under rated as a trainer. He works great with southpaws he just needs the right fighter. Victor Ortiz should be working with this dude.

Bailey is acting ******. The fight could take place in his living room with his father, mother and uncle as the judges and he would still lose by decision if the fight goes 12. He's a KO artist, he doesn't care about decisions so he should be more than happy to fight in St Louis and make money.

Baileys got options. He shouldnt have to go to St. Louis if he doesnt want to. Fighthypes reporting Bailey vs Jessie Vargas could be in play on the Chavez vs Martinez PPV. I know Vargas is from Vegas but its still Vegas and theres no state tax there.

The biggest money fight for Bailey is Alexander in St. Louis. Like everyone's said he isn't winning a decision so mine as well go where the money is. It's hard not to like Bailey after his Jones KO but let's be realistic.

Bailey must not realize how easily Devon is going to box his ears off, and a decision - no matter the venue - isn't going to go his way. Unless this is an undercard to something bigger, I can't see this being a big draw fight anywhere but Mizzou.

                  who cares where it happens?
Bailey by KO or Devon by lopsided UD
not like Bailey can win a decision, so he should be happy with St Louis
this is his last chance to make some money in his career
stop being stubborn and just go to Devon's turf
he's gonna get easily outboxed anyway
