Comments Thread For: Hearn: Carl Froch-Lucian Bute II Not Until Early 2013

Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn is deep in negotiations with Lucian Bute’s team for a possible rematch against IBF champion Carl Froch in the early part of next year.

Froch, 34, blasted Bute out in five rounds in May to take his coveted title and the Canadian has avoided an immediate return to possibly get back to winning ways before fighting the ‘Cobra’ in 2013, according to Hearn.

props to Bute if he has the balls to try this
    surprising if he does though
the fight was so one sided a rematch isn't necessary or owed to him
don't know what Bute could do to make it any different
neither he nor Froch has much of a defense
so it was up to one guy to simply be stronger, and it was Froch
Bute gets beat down again if it happens

His pride is at stake IMO. Gotta get that money too.... plus wouldn't the rematch be in Quebec... or Montreal.... or somewhere in Canada?

i think its idle talk from butes team. no way he gets back in the ring with froch. not after that brutal beating. it doesnt make sense. in canada bute makes just as much fighting second tiers. bet you don't ever see bute leave home again.

A rematch isn't necessarily as one sided as the first fight.

            Things to take into consideration.

            1) Bute will be fighting at home. This should gee him up a bit.
            2) He's now away of Froch's power & will adjust accordingly (if he can).
            3) Carl may come in a little complacent as the first fight was relatively easy.
            4) Sooner or later Froch's age & ring wars will catch up with him (I hope not).
            5) It's boxing. Anything can happen.

I'd still have Carl a major favourite but plenty of fighters have performed much better in rematches than in the original bouts. And plenty of winners have underperformed too....

I'm not sure how Bute can change the way he couldn't take a punch without it effecting him. Froch would probably show him less respect and start nailing him even sooner. Bute eventually has to make that rematch though, his career probably can't move on without it.

Froch will always be too strong for Bute, no matter what adjustments Bute makes.

Bute looked real uncomfortable in the first fight with Froch. Maybe being at home allows him to relax and be more prepared this time but I think Froch's power and pressure will be too much for him.

If Bute proved one thing in the last fight it was that he cant take Froch's power. As soon as Froch cracks him he'll fold again.

Froch was also quicker and beat him to the punch in every exchange, Bute just couldnt figure out that weird superman punch Froch does, his fist comes all the way up from his waist and when he connects he hits you square in the face, central, its a weird punch and hard to adjust for..
