  • Comments Thread For: Ioka vs. Yaegashi Early Results From Osaka, Japan

By Jake Donovan - Kazuto Ioka and Akira Yaegashi collide in a landmark event for the Japanese boxing scene. The strawweight clash marks the first time two fighters from Japan meet in a unification match as their bout headlines Wednesday's show at Bodymaker Colosseum in Osaka.

Sadly, the end result will underline how meaningless alphabet titles have become over the years - the winner will only remain a unified titlist for 10 days before being forced to vacate one of the titles. [Click Here To Read More]

I'm happy the Heavyweight from K-1 (Kyotaro) won against Tillman. Not a bad boxer Kyotaro.

A big little fight. Ironic but if they weighed 160 and above this would be a major ppv.

            FOTY candidate for sure.
Yaegashi's tremendous heart and toughness gave Ioka pressure,
but the younger star did slightly better job.
            great action, fair decision.

I can do nothing but praise them.

I agree, I had it 114-114 (very unofficially), but Ioka appeared to be the slightly better of the two overall.

Great fight. Didn't have that "FOTY guaranteed" feel like Yaegashi-Porpramook, but a contender for sure - esp. in a year where there's really not very many more worthwhile nominees.

This... was a war, major props to Yaegashi for fighting nearly blind at the latter part of the fight.
This is a good scrap you guys
