The World Boxing Association has given the camps for cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones (38-3-2, 30KOs) and interim-champion Denis Lebedev until June 29th to reach an agreement or else the fight will head to a purse bid, according to Lebedev's manager Vladimir Hryunov. Lebedev (24-1, 18KOs) was going to face former champion Jean Marc Mormeck (36-5, 22KOs) on July 21st in Paris, but now he is focused on his title shot against Jones.

The Guillermo Jones situation is an absolute ****ing embarrasment the guy has defended his belt 3 times in 5 years and not stripped i could not imagine explaining the governing bodies situation to casual fan.Aside from the IBF just on the basis that it has only one belt is the only one with credibility

i'm a guillermo fan. i hope he takes this fight, it would be an exciting match-up. jones is getting up there in age and i can't understand his inactivity at all. but then again, isnt he with don king? i can't even remember anymore. if he is, that's a pretty solid explanation as to why the WBA hasn't stripped him. DK has always seemed to be pretty tight with them
