Media in France are reporting that former IBF super bantamweight champion Fabrice Benichou, 46-years-old, has been taken into psychiatric care after three suicide attempts in four days. Benichou retired in 1998 but made a comeback in 2005 that ended in 2006 with a loss.

Benichou was a regular face back the 80's & 90's. Decent fighter although got a few hometown decisions. But always came to fight. If I remember he was from a Gypo family living near Calais but I could well be confusing him with someone else from that era.

I hope he can get over these demons. No matter how bad things are, there's always a way up.
