  • Comments Thread For: Kendall Holt Withdraws From Josesito Lopez Clash

Kendall Holt has withdrawn from his scheduled June 22 fight against Josesito Lopez.

Holt, a former WBO junior welterweight champion, told BoxingScene.com that he pulled out of the 12-round bout because he is concerned about boxing outside during the summer in Southern California. Holt had agreed to fight Lopez in an ESPN2 main event, but changed his mind when he learned Dan Goossen, Lopez’s promoter, had secured Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, Calif. as the site for the fight.

Somebody must of got a hold of Holt and said you might not want to do that considering the longer the fight goes it favors Lopez couple that with the possibilty of a extra hot day to sap energy as well sukcs but can see why the choice was to decline

I was just talking to Integ about this.

Im not too happy the fight is off, I thought it would be a great fight.

Josesito is an intense pressure fighter who was also an elite cross country runner from Riverside. Those hot conditions will favor him greatly.

Not too mad at Kendall but he should have looked a bit more into that contract. Was excited for that fight but now let down.

Hopefully they get a good replacement. Who can they get on short notice thats ranked in 140? Paris? Coleman again?

Kendall has no fear. In fact he's SMART to withdraw from a fight that would be a clear advantage for Josesito. The Promoters should let them fight a FAIR fight indoors or in a place where there is EQUAL footing for BOTH fighters.

Tough one.. hate seeing fighters cancel, but the heat they'd have under the lights inside a tent where it'll be 85-90 degrees out is a ***** to fight in. I wonder if they can provide a massive air conditioner to appease Kendall and get the fight back on?

Weak ass excuse IMO. Fighters have been fighting in similar climates for as long as the sport has been around.

If you don't trust yourself enough to handle the heat you should consider retirement. Pointblank. You're a soft fighter.
