IF he could hande Martinez's power his jab would be in Sergio's face all night. That is a very big if though.

So much for Chavez vs Martinez... Cotto should in no way fight Chavez he would be brutalized. The kid is just WAY too big, 6'1" 180 pounds if he takes that fight he has balls but less brains than I thought, he has a better shot at beating Sergio at 160. It won't be Canelo, you think Cotto is going to give him hometown when he is the A side of that fight? All that is left is Martinez and I see that one happening except for the fact that Sergio is promoted by DiBella, HBO will pay a ton of money for the fight but it won't even get 300k, with DiBella promoting that fight.

It will be Pac/Cotto II which I'm down for at 150+ only, but I'm pulling for Cotto vs Martinez at 154. Anyone saying Sergio stomps Cotto is ******, I favor Cotto at 154. Floyd is #1 P4P and Martinez might be 3 but its a distant third, how you reach #3 by beating Paul "Open for straight left" Williams and Kelly "The Drunk" Pavlik is beyond me. Sergio's looked good but at 154 Cotto's jab keeps him off balance all night Sergio DOES NOT have the speed advantage in this fight. Dood is quick with guys at 160, Cotto is probably one of the fastest JMW out there aside from Lara.

Cotto says he only wants big names if he doesnt retire, so there is Chavez, Martinez, and Alvarez, Pac isnt going to 154 so I doubt that will happen. But anyways who am I missing that would generate cash?

Frankly, Cotto vs Martinez is a terrible idea. Cotto has no business fighting at MW and Martinez would end up slaughtering him with right hooks and especially the left uppercut.

Cotto isnt really an 'in your face' type of pressure fighter. In fact, he dislikes fast paces. Its true that a pressure fighter is the style to beat Martinez, but even when Cotto did push the pace and go to close range, hes probably going to get manhandled on the inside since Martinez is bigger and stronger. Cotto's style probably wouldnt like the fact that Martinez would be sitting in front of him with his hands down, peppering him with combos either.

you know what i find funny how every one says cotto is this future hall of famer but would lose to these guys. Specially chavez who every one thinks is a bum. I agree though he gets ****d by martinez loses to chavez and would be a good fight against canelo but looses if floyd featherfist hurt him imagine what a good 154 puncher in canelo would do if he lands.

I know I'm in the minority but I truly believe Cotto beats Chavez Jr by a wide UD. Problem is he would definitely catch some heavy blows and at this point of his career why risk permanent brain damage. Let us not forget Chaves is a complete and utter FRAUD but he is a goddamn light heavyweight fighting at 160. No matter if hes a bum, hes packing alot of weight behind his punches. Looking at it from a financial perspective Cotto easily takes home 70% of the money vs Martinez, K9, Berto/Ortiz. Against Canelo he'd get 60% or so because Canelo brings a considerable fan base. My feeling is that he wants Pacquiao because that's the biggest money fight but he'd have to give in on weight, venue, and % of PPV. Against all others he can call the shots and fight at MSG or PR.
I hope he fights a tune up in NY or PR vs K9 then goes after Bradley/Pac winner then hopefully retires. He has nothing left to prove. His promotional company already has a good stable of fighters. Go make promoter money now.

I agree Chavez Jr is just a little better than average. Cotto should be able to outbox him and win a ud. Canelo is a interesting fight that Cotto should be slightly favored in and Martinez he should be a big underdog.
