Comments Thread For: Mayweather: Augustus Was Tough, Cotto Was Tougher

Miguel Cotto may have lost the fight, but he certainly earned the respect of Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Prior to Saturday night's main event, Mayweather (43-0, 26KOs) praised Emanuel Augustus as being the toughest opponent of his 16 year career. Mayweather stepped in the ring with Augustus [then 22-16] at the Cobo Hall in Detroit on October 21, 2000 - and stopped the tough veteran in nine rounds.

Nice to see Floyd give props to Cotto. Cotto and Floyd gave us a real fight.

Wotto came in tough and put on a good show. I had it 116-112 for Floyd but it was a great night of boxing and glad Floyd gave him props. Cotto deserves the respect and showed he is not shot or done as so many claimed

Yea, Castillo was the only other one to push Floyd that much. Cause while this was a clear win, Cotto hit every part of Floyd's body. His arms and shoulders are probably hurting today. It was a grueling fight for both guys.

I wouldn't say that, it would be more like grandstanding trying to make his win seem better especially since it was a fight people really liked.

Floyd is usually very complimentery after fights, but Cotto deserves it.

Props to Floyd for keeping it real. It's a shame most of his fans don't.
