Comments Thread For: Jhonny Gonzalez vs. Elio Rojas Early Results From Cancun

By Jake Donovan - Jhonny Gonzalez makes the fourth defense of his featherweight title as he faces Elio Rojas later this evening at the Grand Oasis Resort in Cancun, Mexico.

Gonzalez (51-7, 45KO) won the title in dramatic fashion more than a year ago with a come-from-behind knockout of Hozumi Hasegawa on the road in Japan. The title winning effort is a significant part of his current 11-fight win streak, all coming by way of knockout.

Rojas (23-1, 14KO) has won four straight since suffering the lone loss of his career nearly five years ago. Injuries have plagued the Dominican’s promising career, also interrupting his title reign. He was forced to vacate his belt two years ago, with that very belt at stake in tonight’s contest.
