Beating a dwarf might help rebuild DeGale's confidence after losing to his main rival and getting rocked all over the shop in his fight before this but there are some serious players at SMW - and he needs to seriously step up his opponents if he's going to be ready to take on anyone one of the Champs for a shot at the title in a few fights.
Stopping a seriously passed it dwarf isn't doing any favours preparation wise.
he looked awful last night. Last time i saw him he wasnt that bad
Well last time only took 11 seconds, so thats hard to top.
The expectations for the kid is immense and he has been asked to carry the weight of Danish boxing since hé was a teen. People need to relax. He's only 21. Comparing him to the Best in the division already is absurd as he has plenty to learn still. I see last nights win as a good one, but rushing him into a 'real' titleshot Will be a mistake. The kid has guts, heart and charisma to go with being a crowdpleaser; round 9 might be a ROTY candidate, but he is still raw and needs to work on footwork and defense even though the latter has improved.

he's def a crowd pleaser, i like his attitude of trying to decapitate his opponent. But he wasnt putting much thought into it lol! I never caught on how much he was being hyped until Bunce (who's probably exaggerating a lot as he always talks ****) said he got a better reception from the crowd than kessler did when they fought on the same card (the Froch one) so there's probably way to much pressure on him. but at the same time going by last night performance he's a LOT of improving to do before he even goes near euro level let alone world level
I never saw his last fight, last one i saw was probably the last kessler fight undercard and last night he seemed to much more sloppy.

Bunce is exagerating, but not by much. The hype Patrick has received in his short career is unprecedented really. Hé was in dancing with the stars and placed two. So he's crossover Star already. The pressure of a nation is on his young shoulders, but so far he has done everything asked of him.
I agree on your take about last night in that he was sloppy and wild at times. I read a poster quoting Bunce, who I really like, for saying Nielsen is a KO waiting to happen. That might very well be true if he's rushed into a titlefight. Still some Champions are often fairly average and there might be a cheap belt for him out there.
