Comments Thread For: Photos: Jermain Taylor Knocked Down; Lara Pickles Hearns

BILOXI, Miss. – Jermain Taylor found himself in a very familiar place late in his fight – the canvas – but unlike in the past, Taylor returned to his feet and took home the victory. Taylor controlled a large majority of the 10-round middleweight bout before Caleb Truax floored him with a right hand early in the ninth. Taylor won the second straight fight of his comeback campaign via unanimous decision by the scores of 98-91, 97-92 and 97-94 in the main event of tonight’s ShoBox: The New Generation doubleheader.

just caught the fight. attempted to stay awake but i simply could not.

taylor looked horrible against a pedestrian opponent. to be fair to truax he takes a good shot.

won every round, got dropped with a big clean shot in the 9th and looked hurt, and then he survived until the last half minute of the 10th when he opened up and hurt truax.

as convoluted as it seems, by the look of the interview post fight this has boosted taylor's confidence.

want to talk about how crazy the human brain is?

taylors speech sounded horrible in the interviews prior to the fight. slurring and mumbling.
after the fight (and the huge shot he took in the 9th,) it was clear as a bell

lara looked damn good. shot a few lefts to the chest that hearns that couldnt avoid, and when hearns went to block the next one he went upstairs and all but ended the fight.
real smart. great display of power too. right down the middle

hearns was down for a long time after the third knockdown. he should never box again. he's literally not even good enough to be a gatekeeper. he couldnt go one round with lara.
he'll get the **** kicked out of him by up and comers for short money if he wants to keep fighting
            retire.

Taylor didn't fight for a long time. Dibella needs to keep him active, 3 more fights against tune up level opponents, then have him start fighting the bottom 10 MW's and work his way up.

I was never a fan of JT but always liked him as a person. He needs to retire now he's still young and has his health ahead of him.
