Comments Thread For: Jermain Taylor's Health Worries Some With Comeback

Jermain Taylor rose out of Little Rock, Arkansas to become undisputed world middleweight champion and really now, at the age of 33, ought to be living off the fruits of his past labors.

Sorry, but I don't remember Taylor as much of an attacking force. I liked him but he was more of a jabber than anything else. He fought when he had to but I don't get when the author meant when he said that Jermains style shortened his career. He seemed fairly safety first in his 3 successful defences after Hopkins.

brain injuries heal but the damage doesn't go away & Taylor's always 1 shot from something permanent, even vs poor opposition, he's risking it & vs top shelf guys who really ****...the longer he stays upright in the ring the longer he'll end up (hopefully not) horizontal...

I don't know why, but Taylor's just got this fragility about him. You constantly fear that any damage he takes is going to be permanent and cumulative, no matter how minor. Obviously this is the same for all boxers, especially ones with less than stellar chins, but with Taylor I just cringe whenever he takes a big shot. Really hope he doesn't end up like Meldrick or Bowe. Seems like a really nice guy.

I have the eaxt same feelings about Paul Williams. Williams is actually starting to slur now which is a shame.

I don't know how Taylor's speech is at the moment. Hope he's gonna be ok in the long run too.

I have alot of respect for Taylor. He needs to retire and stay retired.

IMO, Taylor can beat 90% of the middleweights out there...He beats everyone except Martinez, & maybe should stay away from Pirog & Golovkin...

just keep him away from punchers
soon as he fights someone with pop it's all over
beyond that, maybe he can win a paper belt and retire with that
would like to see him pull it off
