Comments Thread For: Miguel Angel Gonzalez, 42, Starts Training For Comeback

Miguel Angel Gonzalez (51-5-1, 40KOs), 42, is training for a comeback. The former world lightweight champion has been in the gym for the last couple of weeks with coach Isidro González Pérez. Gonzalez was at one time a feared boxer in the sport. He's been inactive since 2006, when he knocked out Ulysses "Bear" Duarte in ten rounds in Veracruz. In the same year he defeated defeating Alejandro Luis Garcia in Acapulco, but prior to that, in 2004 and 2005, he was soundly beaten by then champions Cory Spinks and Luis Collazo, respectively.

Wow, Gonzalez looked totally shot when he got hammered by Tszyu in 1999 and was never really competitive after that in a meaningful fight. He was an excellent lightweight champ in his time, but his time was about 1991-1995. This is going to end the only way these things ever end, very badly.

        Money, what else?

I wish people would stop being such drama queens regarding old shot fighters making comebacks. If the wanna earn some money doing what they do best, let them... What else they gonna do? Work at McDonalds?

Besides, its not like any of you actually care about their well being anyway.

Yeah, I mean what kind of candy-asses can't enjoy seeing a completely shot old champion like Roy Jones or Miguel Angel Gonzalez get pounded until they mumble and slur their words and can't find their way to the men's room? Gotta make a living somehow, right?
