To be fair Brewster's KO of Wlad was last year, so he's just had the two wins this year.
And I can't believe we're seriously suggesting that someone who got TKOed and then only won the rematch because they were a fat bastard is fighter of the year?
If Castillo is fighter of the year then that's a damning indictment of contemporary boxing.Comment

Don't tell me you're spoutin the same bull**** all the other haters spout. So, Corrales got one punch KO'd because Castillo weighed a little more before the fight day, even though they made Castillo weigh in the day OF the fight and not Corrales?
And what about the mouthpeice issue? Surely you aren't ignoring that in the 1st fight. Either way, Castillo got the last word and beat Diaz. Castillo deserves it as much or more than Hatton, that's for sure.Comment

I think Brewster should be out of contention. He has two solid wins over Krasniqi and Golota but his competition isn't nearly enough to get Fighter of the year 2005.
Corrales and Castillo can't be named because they lost to each other. I think it's between Taylor and Hatton.Comment

you're a good poster, S_L, but when you start using aggressive language in serious boxing discussions ("spoutin [...] bull****") it does take away from your points, as does using words like "hater".Originally posted by Super_LightweightI didn't know it was that long ago he kod Wlad. Guess he's out.

On terms of achievements - I don't believe anyone has achieved much this year - I'd have to go for Hatton. Why does he deserve it more than Castillo? (as if Castillo should even be in the loop anyway) As much as I hate the alphabet soup the guy has gone halfway to unifying his division and made a HOF fighter quit.Comment

Dude, don't get all high and mighty with me. I think it's trashy to discredit Castillo and make fun of him. To me, that's aggressive, especially whrn you call them both overrated...wtf?And I can't believe we're seriously suggesting that someone who got TKOed and then only won the rematch because they were a fat bastard is fighter of the year?
