Guzman did all he could do get a Pac fight. Even wrote a Goddamn letter. And, in return Pac went to go fight an unnecessary rematch(which BTW it would be what Pac-Cotto II would be now) against Barrera instead of the highly rated title holder in Guzman.

Pac ducked Guzman....It's laughable to say Pac ducked Cotto though.
That rematch was necessary for pac. He was the #1contender for the wbc belt from the time barrera had it but the gbp lawsuit kept him from fighting for it for a year. And since marquez beat barrera in a highly competitive, somewhat controversial fight then pac was forced into a number 1 contender fight instead of jumping right into a title shot.

It's not hard to understand at all really.

Arum's main target had been a Cotto rematch (because of the decent # of Cotto-Marg II PPV buys) and Manny had said he would only fight him at another catchweight, and refused any other offer, Cotto said no. He left Top Rank and instantly got a fight with P4P #1.

        He ducked Cotto

If a Barrera rematch did happen though, it should have happened sooner. Barrera was past his prime and not even that good anymore by the time 2007 rolled around. He struggled like hell to beat Juarez in 2006.

It was a lot of things going. People can make all the excuses they want. Guzman did everything he could to get that fight. And, I'm not even Guzman fan, I think dude is tremendously overrated. But, at the time he was highly rated and a title holder. Challenge Pac, did everything he could to get it. While some people want to act like it's nothing fine.

But, Pac went to fight a lesser opponent who was coming off a loss, in an unnecessary rematch. And, Top Rank told Guzman you want Pac beat Soto. So again Guzman doing everything he can to get the fight fought Soto. Beat Soto. Then Top Rank says he style would make it a boring fight. And, then went for the JMM rematch instead.

Now I wouldn't say Pac ducked Guzman to fight JMM. But, he ducked Guzman and instead fought an unnecessary rematch with Barrera.

I disagree with Pac ducking everyone at 135 though.

No it was not necessary at all. He wasn't force into anything. You act like JMM wouldn't have fought him if he wasn't his mandatory...GTFOH. That rematch was totally unecessary plus Guzman also had a title. He could had fought Guzman and then unify with JMM in the next fight. But, no, he chose to fight a way past prime fighter that was coming off a loss instead of an undefeated highly ranked title holder.

I agree with everything you said. David Diaz at 135 was a decent fight, but I think Campbell or Casamayor would have been better at that point. Campbell had beat Juan Diaz in early 2008 to win the WBO-WBA-IBF titles and Casamayor was the RING LW champion. Those would have been better fights. I almost wish Pac would have fought Casamayor in Mid-2008 for the RING LW title and than Diaz/Campbell in Dec instead of the pointless Oscar fight. The Oscar fight did make Pac a mega PPV star though.

And yet he beat juarez with ease in the rematch, and would have beaten marquez if they rightfully scored the knockdown for him instead of being docked a point.

The rematch was supposed to happen right after pac-morales 3 but becausr of pac's contract issue he was frozen out from fighting any gbp fighters including barrera. So pac was in limbo for about a year and a half.

A fight itself didn't happen due to one fighter being scared of fighting another fighter at their own weight class.

If that isn't ducking then what is?
