Comments Thread For: Quillin Discusses Rescheduled Showdown With Wright
Unbeaten middleweight contender Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin’s clash with Winky Wright has been finally set for May 26, according to Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer.
Ughhhhhh......did not want to see Winky Wright fight again. He had no business returning after 2 years out against Williams. And he has no business returing after 3 years out against Quillin. It's nothing more than a name to boost Quillin's popularity. Too bad Andy Lee didn't want to fight Quillin.
I think it's basically a no win situation for Kid Chocolate.
he probably won't look good against Winky Wright. if he looks terrible and gets a Haymon decision it'll make him look terrible.
but lets say he looks great and KOs Winky, well so what Winky is over the hill and hasn't fought in years.
I guess Winky is a name but I'm not even sure he's that at this point. it's not like he's going to win. Haymon will have the judges bought off to insure a Quillen win if he goes to the cards and Winky isn't KOing anybody.
I don't like it, but I understand it. Peter is, or was the last time I looked, very slow on his feet, he is all but hobbled. A prime Winkey would surround Peter and embarass him, but this Winkey is safe, they think. This would be the best sort of practice for a plodder learning to run down dancers and movers. Winkey was a real fancy Dan, several years ago, but not much of that is left, enough for Peter to learn from though.
Not really that interested in this fight but I understand. Andy Lee didn't want any cause he's too busy fighting meter maids. Kid Chocolate is good but he's not to good to where as he should have this much trouble getting fights. Glad he's fighting though instead of sitting on the shelf. Isn't he promoted by Golden Boy? They have him sitting around like a Don King fighter.
