Comments Thread For: Yonnhy Perez Lived Fast, Retires (Relatively) Young

It’s been a busy week for news, be it big stories, no-shows or false alarms. Sneaking into the headlines on Wednesday afternoon was the announcement of former bantamweight titlist Yonnhy Perez electing to call it a career at age 33 after just six active years into the sport.

I think it's a good time to call it a career for him considering that he looked like he lacked the fire in his last couple of fights. I hope he can retire happily and permanently.

Best of luck in his post-boxing life and enjoy not having to go away from your family for long periods of training camps now!

I remember when they showed him crying in the fighters meeting for the Agbeko fight because he hadn't seen his family in weeks. I hope he earned enough to live well with his family for the rest of his life, he sure deserves it.

He's only been with Espinoza for his last two fights though, right?
He really deserved the Showtime tournament paychecks (I hope they were decent), secured it in that great great fight with Abner Mares (I still watch that every now and then...)
