Comments Thread For: Sulaiman: Shane Mosley is a Great Opportunity For Canelo

World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman disagrees with Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez, who believe Shane Mosley (46-7-1, 39KOs) is a finished fighter and no longer a challenging contender. The two Mexican champions do not agree with Mosley's selection as the next opponent for WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (39-0-1, 29KOs) - on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Sulaiman is a clown but i kinda agree with him. Mosley is finished no doubt about it but he's still a dangerous puncher. At Shane's age i would guess that he could fight at a fast pace for about 4 rds before he gases so if he did come out and just go for it from the start, throw the kitchen sink at alvarez then i would give him a chance too because remember when alvarez fought Cotto (older bro) he was almost caught cold in the 1st rd and looks a bit chinny and Cotto has zero power & the other aspect is Mosley is 40 years old, making 147 was a huge effort cos he looked pretty dry at the Pacquaio weigh in so he should be more comfortable not shedding those 7 pounds. Remember how he really hurt Floyd with 10oz grants even with Floyd's defensive abilities but also his great survival skills when he's hurt, if Mosley caught Alvarez square like that with 8oz reyes I believe it could be lights out, it's like Hop when he fought Pavlik or Morales when he fought Maidana, never write a great fighter off cos they may still have one great fight left in them.

isn't Alvarez' challenger supposed to be ranked in the Top 10 by the WBC in order for it to be a title defense?

Canelo is quickly starting to look like Chavez jr. part 2

even Paul Williams, at this point, would be a more creditable fight. 154 is stacked and we get this.

Yeah that's how it's supposed to wrk but the WBC is a BS organization that does whatever the hell it wants for it's own interest and not the fighters who actually pay their salaries!!!!
