WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (39-0-1, 29KOs) confirmed BoxingScene.com's report from Friday night, that a deal was reached to defend his title against former three-time world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley (46-7-1, 39KOs). Alvarez-Mosley will be the co-featured contest on the Floyd Mayweather-Miguel Cotto pay-per-view on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

this is a good step for Alvarez. Mosley is dangerous, but he's old and past his prime. Good stepping stone. and who knows, maybe Mosley's got another good one left. Not likely though. This is probably Alvarez's time to step into the big leagues.
