No announcement yet.
Would Vitali finally get respect if he destroys his little brother?

He also left the last fight of his excellent career being booed out of the arena at the Staples Centre by the crowd, which was won over by Vitali.
He was also booed there again when he showed up for Vitali vs Corrie Sanders.
I don't think that's the way he envisioned leaving the sport, and this is shown by the fact that he feels the need to constantly offer "advice on how to beat the Klitschkos" to just about every fighter they face.
So far, his advice hasn't been of much use.
There's no doubt Lewis is still sensitive about the way his career ended. He should have done the rematch if this is going to gnaw at him for the rest of his life.
Even last year he got in shape and was going to come back, only to be talked out of it again.

So you're agreeing Lewis did in fact have the WBC title and was the universally recognized heavyweight champion at the time he retired. Thank you.

Funny, but I saw it as the crowd booing the decision to stop the fight. But I agree, Vitaly definitely won the crowd back during the Lewis fight after his disgraceful quit job during the Byrd fight.

The advice of past all time greats hardly ever is.

He seems pretty content to me. If anything this gnaws at the
Klit fans who simply cant come to terms with the loss. Oh well, what can you do?

And then being booed again the next time he showed up when Vitali fought Sanders at the Staples Centre.
Goes to show that American fight fans never really took to Canadian/Brit/Jamaican Lennox Lewis. He was seen as a "jab artist" and the anti-Tyson.
If you want to locate the moment when the heavyweight division began to matter less in America, it was when Lewis became champion. Put together his reign with that of the Klitschkos, and it's been a long time since America mattered in the HW division.Last edited by Anton LaVey; 02-10-2012, 11:48 AM.

Many of the all-time greats, like Tyson or Foreman, are man enough to admit they have been beaten and that opponents have been better or at least close to equal to them. Everytime I saw Lewis talk about his career, he has been trying to talk the Vitali fight into something were he was actually far superior and no match for his opponent. He also has been trying to exuse his losses to McCall and Rahman in the past time. It would be a pleasent surprise to see him actually acknowledging Vitali's skills and competitiveness in their fight once.

The fans were booing the decision to stop the fight, no more, no less. Its not as if Lewis just up and quit while ahead...the fans realize this.

I like Lewis, but like everyone, he has his faults and blind spots. He took a lot of the same heat when he was fighting that the Klitschkos take now, and he should realize that.
