Comments Thread For: Team Senchenko Shred Malignaggi Over Fight Refusal

Union Boxing Promotion, one of three leading Ukrainian promotional companies, which guides several world-class fighters, including WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko, was highly displeased with a recent interview on RingTV, issued by former IBF light welterweight king Paulie Malignaggi, who was designated as the next challenger to Senchenko during recent WBA convention in Donetsk, Ukraine.

Sorry Paulie, but if he doesn't want to come over, he doesn't have to.
Zavec came over for the same reasons you stated why Senchenko should, but they're different people. You want that belt, you better go over there and take it.

Malignaggi would need a knock out to win in the ukraine. he has no power. Malignaggi is likely to out box this guy, but he'd never get credit. in the ukraine

Paulie's been blatantly robbed before so I feel where he's coming from. On the other hand you gotta go take the champs belt i.e hopkins vs pascal.

In a way you kind of have to feel for Paulie though. He's not gunna win by knockout, which means he needs a KO... Unless they got the judge from the WV2-Donaire fight to act is stand in for 2 of the judges, he doesn't win. Ever..

At the same time, they did pay more..and you'd think Paulie has more confidence in himself. Paulie has been on the "decline" for quite some time now, don't see why he's being so picky.

Paulie got owned in his big fight with Hatton
Paulie got owned in his big fight with Khan
dude needs to STFU and take whatever chances he gets
            he never KO's anybody, anywhere
going overseas wouldn't change things for him
            outbox him thoroughly or lose
he should just swallow his pride and go over for the money offered

The first Diaz fight has often been referenced in all of this, particularly in efforts to justify his decision. But quite honestly, that loss (and his pre-fight prediction and post-fight rant) did more for his career than any win. It got him a return date on HBO, which in turn led to the Khan fight, and his name somehow remaining relevant while on the comeback trail against fringe opposition.

And as you mentioned, Hopkins' career didn't seem to suffer at all by being limited to a draw v. Pascal. He got the rematch, won and made history.

I've said all along, if there's a beef, it should be with Golden Boy for losing the bid by such a massive margin. But then you have to take into account that their bid was based on today's marketplace for such a fight in the states - which means that Senchenko coming here is far less lucrative than Paulie fighting there.

nobody is going to go fight Senchenko in his backyard, let him keep holding that belt hostage and people will continue to ignore him, nobody takes him serious and nobody ever mentions him when they talk about the "BEST Welterweights"

I agree on that and we saw that in the rematch why he was complaining... but I agree with what Napier said.... he has to take whatever he can get.... when's the next time he's going to get a title shot?
