  • Comments Thread For: Juan Manuel Marquez's Return May Take a Bump To April

According to Juan Carlos Torres, executive coordinator for Zanfer Promotions, the next ring appearance of WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (53-6-1, 39KOs) may take place in Mexico on April 14 or April 21. The previous date mentioned by both Zanfer and Top Rank was March 17th, also in Mexico. The fight could take place in Puebla, Chiapas, or a new arena in Mexico City. While former champion David Diaz has been mentioned as a possible opponent, there could change in plans.

Whatever Juan Manuel Marquez did to gain weight in a very short time, fishy or not...well it worked for him. Now that he is heavier and bigger might be the right moment to challenge chicken Floyd for a rematch. Maybe this time around JMM can not be fooled by the chicken in the weighting game.

          ........it's overkill

Godquez would end Floyd's career via 3rd round KO in a rematch

I don't like when fighters start choosing the big name opponent before they fight the current 1. That makes the game of boxing look bad. It shows that the current opponent isn't suppose to win. It's really as clear as day.

Look at Khan looking past Peterson. Only to start strong & end up fighting for his life.

Seriously guys!!! FMJ kills him at any weight..Learn to be more objective when watching boxing. Don't hear JMM asking for a rematch. Because he know its another blow out!!

Marquez vs Peterson is a very interesting fight. It has fight of the year written all over it. Great stylistic matchup

No idea why Marquez would consider a tune up like that. He's on top of his game still and aging. Should only be taking on world class fighters. Either way I'll still watch.
