Arum's never going to let Donaire fight Rigondeaux. we'll probably seem him against Jorge Arce next then Rafa Marquez.

I think Arum's plan is to let Donaire beat up overmatched Puerto Ricans and Mexicans. once they hate him enough they'll pay money to see him lose, which he won't.

Rigondeaux and Toshiaki Nishioka might as well just forget it. Arum isn't going to risk Donaire against a guy he won't be able to make money off of.

It would be really weird if Rigondeaux didn't fight Donaire since they're both with Top Rank. Knowing Donaire at this stage, he wouldn't back down from the challenge unless a bigger challenge arises that might catapult his popularity in a higher weight class.

Arum's done it before, with Erik Morales.

at the time Arum promoted Morales and a slick southpaw Freddy Norwood.
Arum never paired the two because if Norwood beat Morales Arum could be out millions that he knew he could milk off Morales.

I'm not saying Morales couldn't beat Norwood but it would have been a close fight, too close for Arum liking.

Arum just used Norwood to beat threats from outside his stable, like Juan Manuel Marquez. who everybody was avoiding at the time.

so I think Arum will just use Rigondeaux to knock off threats to Nonito, while putting Donaire in fights where he will look good. like his current fight with Vazquez and his most likely future fights against Arce and Marquez.

Arum's done it before, but I think with the internet information is out there and people are starting to see through Arum's tricks.
        ----------------------------------------------------------

on a side note Golden Boy is doing the same with Abner Mares and Anslemo Moreno. they'll never fight ever though they are the 2 top guys at 118. Moreno would probably clown Mares but since GBP can make more money off Mares, they'll give him the easier fights.

basically if you're really good and without a fan base you're ****ed.

I like it that nonito seems more centered than his fans. He knows the risks in moving up and knows what he has to do to get the job done. Great for him, I wish him the best.

Dude just moved up to 122. It's like asking Mares to fight Rigondeux right away.

Sounds like the Manny pacquiao special.

I don't mind Donaire staying at 122 for a while if he fights the likes of Nishioka or Rigondeaux. But I doubt Arum will match Donaire up with Rigondeaux since that wouldn't make much money. Nishioka doesn't have a fan base in the US but I doubt Arum would stage that fight in Japan, maybe in the Philippines.

I expect Arce, Marquez, Nishioka, and Juanma Lopez to be his next four opponents.

Talk about using Donaire's name in the media to build up Rigo. How about Rigo build up his name first since he just won the title. He should rematch the guy who beat him first. I'm sure Cordoba would love the rematch. Tell Rigo to stop ducking Toshiaki Nishioka.....now see how that sounds?
