Comments Thread For: Rubio Focused on One Goal - To Knock Chavez Jr. Out!

Mexico's Marco Antonio Rubio (53-5-1, 46KOs) doesn’t want to leave any doubt when he faces Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0-1, 31KOs), the middleweight champion of the World Boxing Council, on February 4th at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Therefore, Rubio is focused on knocking out the son of the best Mexican fighter of all time.

If Rubio tries this I wouldn't be suprised if he gets KO'd. He's a face first fighter with no skill. Jr should be able land on him all night and get in those body shots.

I think Jr is gonna' start earning his spurs here. I think he's gonna' manhandle Rubio and then stop him mid to late rounds.

      JCCjr TKO 8 Rubio

      War Jr!!

maybe Rubio will quit on his stool like he did against Pavlik. Chavez is a coward and would never face a real threat.

        Chavez wins probably by TKO

Chavez Jr got this IMO. I think people underestimate Chavez a bit because of the hate he gets. Sure he ain't no world beater and does not deserve a title belt at this stage, but he's actually a pretty damned good fighter, not the weakling bum some fans make him out to be. If Rubio thinks this is an easy fight he is going to have a rude awakening that night.

Chavez will win a decision. The sad thing is that Rubio beat Lemieux. Lemieux would've walked right through Chavez in 3 rounds or less. Chavez is younger and he can let his hands go in combination better that Rubio can. Rubio is going to be going for the KO and he'll lose the rounds. Do people remember Rubio crumbling against Pavlik in a couple of rounds. Arum openly admitted that Top Rank fixes fights. They'll make sure Chavez wins.

He'll win Because Top Rank fixes fight however they need to. If Rubio hurts Chavez he'll let up and some how Chavez will stop him in the following round.

Jr underated 2 a small degree, & though Roach is very over-rated, I'm sure he's doesn't want Jr to go toe to to w/Marco...good bout & Jr can adjust more than the 1 dimensional Rubio, but if Rubio makes him fight, should be good...

Rubio is way to fixated on the KO. THAT is when things go wrong. Rubio talked about how he fixed a lot of mistakes but adding one big one is the worst thing he can do such as going for the KO. Did he not learn from Lemeix that it is the wrong thing to do? He should stick to a solid game plan and if the KO comes it comes. This is a 50/50 fight.
