Comments Thread For: Headbutt Ends Wonjongkam-Mukai Title Fight In One Round

By Jake Donovan - Pongsaklek Wonjongkam made the fourth successful defense of his second tour as lineal flyweight champion in unspectacular fashion, as a clash of heads barely 45 seconds into his bout with Hirofumi Mukai of Japan resulted in a technical draw on Thursday afternoon (local time) in ****kok, Thailand.

Preceded by nearly 30 minutes of speeches, in ring advertisements and national anthems performed for Thailand and Japan, the title fight already carried a second-nature feel to it. The action itself validated that belief, as the southpaws were barely getting warmed up when an accidental headbutt left a cut along Mukai’s eyebrow. [Click Here To Read More]

See man..I would have HATED if starpower ended like this...It sux when u invest money into megafights, and all of it is wasted...imagine if u dominate, get headbutted, then the fight gets stopped in the 7th rnd because ur mouth wont stop bleeding....Better learn how to throw sucker punches

This was a megabout? I thought it was just Wongjongkam beating down on another rookie... dude's only 7 fights in as a pro.

a megabout is even WORSE....But this is bad too...anytime u put time into a fight, and everyone shows up and it ends in a non violent way(regarding fist) its an upset

this bout never should have been sanctioned...2 bad the Thai will never be in the US but that's why their promoters pay big $$ for the Americans & Mexicans to go there, safety...

Fortunately the main event was FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR better

By Jake Donovan - Kompayak Porpramook picked up by far the biggest win of his 12-year career with a 10th round stoppage over Adrian Hernandez to win a junior flyweight strap Friday afternoon (local time) in Bangkok, Thailand. The main event was non-stop action and a surefire Fight of the Year contender, keeping the intimate but rabid crowd in suspense throughout. Neither fighter gave an inch, with most of the action taking place in center ring and rarely at more than phone booth’s distance.
