Comments Thread For: Juanma Lopez Felt Salido Was Overconfident With Haya

Puerto Rico's Juan Manuel Lopez nearly had a planned rematch go down the drain. The boxer is scheduled to face WBO featherweight champion Orlando "Siri" Salido in the first quarter of 2012. Last Saturday in Mexico, Salido (37-11-2, 25 KO) fought lightly regarded Weng Haya (14-5, 8 KO) in a ten round non-title bout. In the third round, Salido was badly hurt and went down after a counter left hand on the chin. Another straight shot in the fourth would put him down for a second time. Salido had to battle back in the later rounds to stop Haya in the eight.

Im glad juanma wants that rematch. I think he has a good shot of beating Salido the second time a round but I deff wouldnt favor him.
Salido imo just got caught in that fight plain and simple haya threw caution to the wind and landed a "lucky" bomb. Orlando showed grit and championship stuff to weather it tho.

It wasn't that Salido was overconfident or that the Juanma fight was a fluke or anything like that..Salido was dominating the fight & even staggered Haya a few time before Haya caught Salido with a perfect left hook to the tip of the chin at the end of the 3rd & dropped Salido & Salido was hurt bad..When Salido came out in the 4th he was still hurt & got dropped again but got up & did what he had to do(cover up, hold, move, bob & weev) to weather the storm & did & started fighting back at the end 4th & from there on Salido did the proper adjustments to avoid getting hit with another left hook & started attacking the body & started dominating again..& finally dropped Haya in the 8th for the stoppage..Salido did something Juanma couldn't do & that was to make the proper adjustments not to get dropped again & changed the game plan to win..It shouldn't be any surprise that Salido got dropped cause he has been KO'd 5 times, but by the way Salido looked in this fight comparing to the way Juanma looked in his last fight, I say Salido will KO Juanma again..

Lopez would need to stay off the ropes, circle Salido, overuse the jab, and use a high guard to have a chance against Salido. Remember - rarely does the loser win the rematch. Usually the one who won the first fight wins the rematch, but often earlier.
