Comments Thread For: Lemieux Praises Alcine: I Tip My Hat, A True Champion

Very few pundits were giving former junior middleweight champion Joachim Alcine (33-2) a shot at beating David Lemieux on Saturday at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Alcine, winless in two years and moving up to middleweight, appeared to be a safe comeback opponent for Lemieux, who was trying to get his career back on track after suffering a TKO loss to Marco Antonio Rubio in April.

Alcine pulled a Lujan and taunted David after every major punch he landed.

I love the quote from Yvon Michael about underestimating Alcine.

Of course they underestimated him because he always chooses the easiest possible opponent for his fighter (ie Bute) and would never have put someone in with Lemiuex that he thought would actually have a chance to win.

          Interbox promotes Bute.

David Lemiuex, from one of the hottest prospects to a no hoper in a verry short time, what a shame. I expected more from him.

Hitman is a dumb magyar and a notorious Bute hater. Rational thought or facts are rarely included with what he says. Just smile and nod at whatever he says like you would a person with alzheimers or a mentally challenged kid.

The thing with Lemieux is he possessed a lot of talent. But he has two major flaws... his attitude and work ethic. He left Russ Anber because Anber was too hard on him and let's face it... the guy can probably make 154 with ease, he looks a bit flabby at 160 but he isn't dedicated enough for that. Plus, I really don't like Marc Ramsay as a coach. He has one gameplan and when it fails, he doesn't know what to say or do.

Last thing, did you see how Alcine and Rubio got into Lemieux's head quickly?? They both taunted Lemieux and he reacted by taunting back and playing with the crowd. That's another example of how not focus he is.

Lemieux is a fraud. While other prosects with 12-0 records were fighting other 12-0 and 20-1 fighters on ShoBox, he was fighting stiffs. He wouldn't even leave his little cushy Canada and fight a threat in what 24 fights? Then Rubio exposed him. Beating a washed up 140 Camacho junior doesn't help develop skills. Now he gets beaten by a guy who couldn't last 6 minutes with 154 pound Angulo.
