  • Comments Thread For: Tim Bradley: If Khan Stops Peterson, He's The Real Deal!

WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley is the only boxer to defeat Lamont Peterson in the ring, by decision, two years ago. On Saturday night in Washington, DC, Peterson challenges Bradley's main rival, WBA/IBF 140-pound champion Amir Khan. Although Peterson has had some good performances since losing to Bradley, Khan is the overwhelming favorite to win. Even Bradley himself is picking Khan to win and gives the British the edge with his faster hands. Bradley picks Khan by decision, but says a knockout win will erase any doubts about Khan's status as an elite fighter.

Anyone who thinks Bradley is ducking Khan is crazy. He made a business decision that appears reckless in short-sight, but maybe it will prove best for the long term.

Either way, it's not fear that has stopped the fight. It will happen soon enough.

My fave fighter at 140 is Lucas M, but Khan is the man because Bradley allowed it, period.

Does that mean that Bradley will fight Khan next then and "grow some balls"?

In truth, I'd have to agree with Bradley, to a certain extent. Considering their level of opponent, I give Khan the ranking nod, but might still pick Bradley heads up. That being said, I do think that both have beaten guys that make them deserve to be at the top, with Alexander and Maidana, respectively.

Still, STOPPING Peterson would go miles in showcasing that Khan is the legit class of the division. Still, we have to wait for Bradley-Khan to know the ultimate truth.

            Which is?

The Khan fight would be huge. & Avoiding a fight just because if you lose that fight it will set you back is like the definition of a duck.

No I'm not saying he deliberately ducked him so to protect a loss. I'm under the impression that Bradley was attached to Shaw Promotions and didn't want to fight under that banner anymore, for whatever business reasons which are his own. So he was waiting for the contract to expire, in order to sign with Top Rank.

I think Bradley has proved he is not a coward. Going over to UK to fight Witter. Beating Alexander to unify, when a lot of people had Devon in that fight. A guy like that is not going to be afraid of a man. He will believe that he can beat Khan. But unfortunately there are other factors involved in a fight.

I agree with this. Do i understand the business side of it? Yes, thats why i would never say bradley is scared. But not taking the fight because of the risk of losing and affecting future paydays is a duck. If the other champ in his division at the time happened to be for example casamayor im pretty sure he would have fought him cause he knows thats a win. Not fighting a guy because there is a 50% chance of losing is ducking said guy.

Keep in mind im saying this and i cant stand amir khan.
