Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto's Trainer: Margarito Could Have Continued

Madison Square Garden, New York City - Miguel Cotto's Cuban trainer, Pedro Díaz, agrees with Francisco Espinoza, the co-manager of Antonio Margarito. Diaz, like Espinoza, believes Margarito could have continued when the doctor stopped the action before the tenth round got underway on Saturday night.

Of course he could have. Its Antonio Margarito, you can hit him with a sledge hammer and he'd keep coming after you.

We all agree that Margarito could have continued. No dobut, but look what happened when he continued vs a lopsided Pacroid match. Stopping the fight > personal permanent injury

Cotto was up 9-0 so Tony needed a KO to win

As Robert Garcia has said, Margarito is a Mexican and he will fight to the end. Well the end was round 9. Now everybody knows that Margarito can't win w/o illegal hand wraps..

Exactly. This is what the dumbass [Margarito] doesn't understand. He wasn't going to win. Cotto wasn't winded. This wasn't the first fight. Cotto was never going to let Margarito get any momentum. He FINALLY learned how to hold and was doing it like he'd been doing it for years. Every time he pushed Margarito back he ripped him with some combinations to that eye. Who is Margarito kidding?

Plus, as always, that statement from Diaz is taken out of context. Diaz did in fact say this, but the last sentence he said was: "Margarito never would've made it to the 12 round." http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/los-...e-miguel-cotto

Margarito should thank the officials for having pity on him and stopping the contest. New york did what Vegas didn't! stop a fight that was clearly favoring one fighter, Miguel Cotto! had Vegas done that in the Margarito pacquaio fight, the injury margarito sustained on his eye would've never happened. even if margs would've continued the outcome was still gonna be the same, bcuz Cotto was way up on the scorecards. Margarito is invisible without the plaster. Congratulations Cotto on your redemption!
