Comments Thread For: Rios, Murray Not Looking Past One Another

NEW YORK — Brandon Rios realizes he isn’t in a position to underestimate John Murray.

The unbeaten WBA lightweight champion is taking Murray much more seriously than the handicappers who’ve installed Rios as about a 10-1 favorite entering their 12-round fight on the Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito undercard Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. Higher-profile fights against Yuriorkis Gamboa or Juan Manuel Marquez, Rios’ preferred opponents in 2012, will remain realistic possibilities only if Rios overcomes Murray.

“He’s coming over here, trying to take my title away, which is never going to happen,” Rios, 25, said. “John Murray has a long night ahead of him. I’m ready for him. He thinks that I’m not preparing myself for him, but he has something else coming.” [Click Here To Read More]

i think murray might have a chacne here.. . before u jump all over me, im just saying he MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE. . . it's very slim, but it's definitely not "non-existent."

murray might have better technique on the inside. . . he might have straighter punches, and be slightly fleeter of hand, but not foot. . . but sicne they won't be moving, foot speed isn't a big factor if he was going against an outside fighter/boxer-mover. . .

definitely doesn't have the chin or punch resistance of rios. . . probably not the stamina either. . . and most importantly in these type of fights, he doesn't have the POWER. .

i think murray is a lot better than urbano antillon, though. ..

Interesting. I agree he has a very small chance. Question theaux Pugs. Do you think Murray is better than Acosta? I was more impressed with the way Brandon handled Acosta than Antillion.
