Comments Thread For: Lyle's Memory Will Always Live On For Ali, Foreman Bouts

He was as good as a heavyweight fighter can be without being great. That's one of the things I will always remember about ex-convict Ron Lyle, who died in Denver on Saturday at age 70. Of course, we should all recall how he gave the iconic Muhammad Ali fits before "The Greatest" stopped him in the 11th round in Las Vegas in 1975.

Foreman vs. Lyle was one of the greatest heavyweight fights of all time. Every time I watch the reply, I still think Lyle is going to win until that final KO. If he were fighting in his prime today, he would be champ for sure. And I almost forgot Lyle vs. Shavers -- youtube it and you'll see want I mean.

leave it to marley to say he was an ex-con---real fans knew it...funny Joe or Norton never wanted a piece of him...Clay was lucky as Lyle was giving him hell till he got caught, Foreman didn't have the balls to give'm the rematch...an exciting fighter and genuine nice man...rest well, Ron
