Uhhh, yes he did. The federal court in Nevada made it clear that if he continued to duck the deposition they would impose sanctions on him and rule in default for Manny. They also ordered him to cover Pacquiao's legal fees in the matter.
All clear signs that this is a joke and frivolous.Comment

so far, his actions is that of a man avoiding this so-called frivolous lawsuit.
the courts had to practically twist floyd's arm to force him to appear.
most likely this will be taken care of via out of court settlement, just like so many other similar cases.
and why do you still call the suit frivolous? didn't a US district judge already consider manny having sufficient evidence to proceed with the case?Last edited by AFighter4U; 11-11-2011, 10:34 PM.Comment

part of me wanted floyd to continue ignoring the courts because of this.Uhhh, yes he did. The federal court in Nevada made it clear that if he continued to duck the deposition they would impose sanctions on him and rule in default for Manny. They also ordered him to cover Pacquiao's legal fees in the matter.
All clear signs that this is a joke and frivolous.
people kept saying this suit is frivolous. i wished that floyd proved then wrong by continuing to ignore it and lose by default.Comment

All Floyd has to do is apologize for any "misunderstanding". End of story. He would still demand "Olympic Style" Testing. It would be somewhat of a black eye (won't show it tho) in terms of public relation. Very little of in terms of $$ compensation.Comment

floyd's pride as a fighter and as a man wouldn't allow him to do that.
as i've said before, i believe this would eventually be resolved via out of court settlement.Comment

well said....The sooner this thing gets done, the sooner there won't be a possible excuse for why the fight can't happen. The deposition should've happened months ago. Hopefully now, like DLH and Schaefer before him, Floyd will realize going forward with this will only cost him a minimum $5 million in punitive damages and more insane legal fees (Court already ordered him to pay for Pac's legal fees in this matter).
Plus having to fork over millions publicly to his arch nemesis would cause his ego to rampage. So maybe he'll settle and keep things confidential. Then again, issuing a public apology to Manny might be even worse then paying him ego-wise.
Either way, settle the thing and move on.
can not help but notice some people doing some echolocation,,,,
probably looking at this as round 1 going for pac..and it hurts them..
floyd is losing the mind games and likely more money to boot...
sad,,,,but he brought it all on himselfComment

So the purpose is to get "small" change. They are not gonna get $5 million out of court settle. If settlement, Floyd may just admit to no wrongdoing. I think you guys are making a bigger deal than it is.Comment

What are you basing this on exactly? If I didn't know better, I'd say you were talking out of your ass.
As to the bold, I think you don't get how serious it really is. Floyd finally showing up after delaying as long as he could, like GBP's executives before him, shows that he's finally getting what you're not. But to further the point...
Floyd faces 'severe sanctions' for absence
MANILA, Philippines – The US Nevada District Court has given Floyd Mayweather Jr. a stern warning for refusing to appear in a court-ordered deposition in relation to Manny Pacquiao’s defamation case.
Judge Larry Hicks ruled in favor of Pacquiao on the latter’s motion to impose monetary sanctions against Mayweather for snubbing the deposition order, according to a report by Philboxing.com’s Ronnie Nathanielsz.
"The court does find that the monetary sanctions related to the cost of the deposition, as well as attorney's fees relating to that deposition… are appropriate in light of Mayweather, Jr.'s failure to comply with a court order and attend this deposition,” Hicks said in his ruling issued on October 18.
"Any further failures by Mayweather, Jr. may invite severe sanctions,” the judge said.
The court, however, thumbed down Pacquiao’s motion for a default ruling against Mayweather.
The judge said there is no prior order yet from the court involving the issuance of sanctions against Mayweather.
Pacquiao filed the defamation suit over claims made by Mayweather and his trainer uncle, Roger Mayweather, that Pacquiao was using performance-enhancing drugs (PED).
The Filipino boxer is asking up to US$10 million in damages plus attorney's fees.

This thing is NOT the joke many of you thought it was. Floyd finally figured that out, that's why he went to the deposition instead of burning benjamins in a club. Millions and sanctions are at stake.Comment
