Juan Manuel Lopez is looking to return to the ring in early 2012. On October 1st Lopez returned to the winner's column by blowing out Mike Oliver in two rounds. The former two division champion has heard his name mentioned with many potential opponents but doesn't think two of them are very realistic. JuanMa doesn't see himself facing bantamweight king Nonito Donaire or WBO junior featherweight champion Jorge Arce. If JuanMa gets his wish his next fight will be a rematch against Orlando Salido. Juanma could have fought Gamboa already but he fuuucked up against Salido.
Let's hope it will happen and then after that we can talk Donaire and others in the mix.Comment

If you asked me a year ago if Juanma could beat Gamboa, I would of said "absolutely" because of the great power that Juanma has but right now, I think Gamboa is way to fast for him. Gamboa has crazy fast hands and throws awesome combinations. I think that Gamboa would be a bit too much for Juanma. Juanma definitely has a punchers chance though...... I would love to see that fight happen regardless....Comment

I'd still like to see that fight, too. I think there's still plenty of interest in that match-up. Like you (and I guess nearly everyone else), my original thoughts on Lopez-Gamboa were somewhat vague. After the Salido loss, JuanMa looks significantly more vulnerable to Yuri. If the fight ever takes place, and it should, it'll probably be at 130.If you asked me a year ago if Juanma could beat Gamboa, I would of said "absolutely" because of the great power that Juanma has but right now, I think Gamboa is way to fast for him. That Salido rematch isn't going to be a walk in the park for JuanMa. Even if he wins, Lopez is in for a rough night; Orlando is a tough customer. And with JuanMa's style and unimproved defense...yeesh....Comment

I think Juanma has little chance of beating either of them, though I think any combination of the three would be highly entertaining and would prompt me to drop 50 bucks or so (assuming a good undercard into the bargain) on a PPV.

Juanma can't beat Donaire. Reason is he is simply too slow and typical for Donaire. By that I mean, he doesn't have the speed to offset Donaire's counter punching and is too boxing 101 to confuse Donaire.
Gamboa is a likely match up for Juanma but for some reason I feel they will always have an excuse not to fight each other. If Juanma doesn't get blitzed, he may beat Gamboa but I'd favor Gamboa heavily and I like Juanma.Comment
