Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Sets Record Straight: No Comeback For Me!

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has denied the circulating rumors that he might return to the ring. Golden Boy CEO, Richard Schaefer, told several reporters that De La Hoya was inspired to return after watching Saturday's ring debut of 52-year-old Dewey Bozella, which took place on the Chad Dawson-Bernard Hopkins undercard at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Oscar is obviously talking about Dan Rafael of ESPN, who wrote a blog saying that Oscar is considering a comeback. The blog is mostly about how it wouldn't be a smart move.

I bet that Dan didn't call Oscar because of their recent rift, but the article quotes Richard Schaefer quite a bit about a potential Oscar comeback...

If he came back, he'd put on a better event than the last 2 GBP PPV events.

                    Good.

A comeback would be yet another black eye for the sport. And that's the last thing we need right now.
