Comments Thread For: Erik Morales Impressed By Cano, Invites Him To Train

On Saturday evening at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Erik Morales became the first Mexican to win world titles in four weight divisions when he defeated Pablo Cesar Cano via a 10th round knockout. Morales had been training to face Lucas Matthysse when the tough Argentinean puncher came down with an illness and had to pull out of the fight. Morales said the opponent change was part of the reason that the fight with the then undefeated Cano was tougher than expected. [Click Here To Read More]

Thought this was a good entertaining fight. Cano was a warrior that night and gave it everything he had. Morales still a legendary warrior.

cano is very slow but he's got a future ahead of him

      he got a nice payday

his corner stopped the fight when they should have (that cut would have put the rest of his career in jeopardy)

morales is the classiest badass type in boxing.
      no bells and whistles
      just classy

i'm sure he'd appreciate sparring like that.

if cano can get down to 130 or 135 (he's 21 years old so he was able to make a fight at 140 on incredibly short notice) i think he could make some noise and maybe even become a contender.

he's got decent skills and a fantastic chin and heart.
and a solid punch for a 21 year old.

Cano put up a better fight then I expected. Thought he was going to get blown out in a one-sided fight. I hope Morales didn't hold back to make it much more competitive.

That fight just ruined Cano's career. They should have never taken this fight, besides its not like Cano was old and on his way out and desperate for money. He is only 21 and was undefeated. He had all the time in the world for a shot at a big fight later in his career. Rudy Perez is a money hungry bastard who doesnt care for his fighters, he just cares about getting paid. I have worked corners with him in the past in Mexico and he does some real shady ****. If his fighter loses he talks crap and says things like; " He is a waste of time." I dont believe Rudy is such a good trainer, he just became famous by training Barrera and Vasquez.

Rudy is also one of the worst cutman I've seen. He still has the bad habit of wiping the fighters cuts with the dam towel!!!! Joe Chavez once said, " Rudy is a horrible cutman, he opens the cuts more by rubbing so dam hard with the towel."
