Comments Thread For: DeGuardia: Delvin Rodriguez Wants The Big Fights

Nearly two month after his action-packed majority draw with Pawel Wolak at the Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan, Delvin Rodriguez is still trying to figure out what to do next. While the profile of Wolak has seemingly increased since that match- he signed with influential manager Cameron Dunkin and his name has been mentioned in several big fights- Rodriguez has remained in the background.

      good matchmaking

i think that would be a great fight for both guys.

i think delvin would lose a competitive ud and maybe mark canelo up a bit with those crisp punches.

the guy 100% deserves a big fight. the wolak rematch would be a terrific fight for a PPV undercard.

it would be perfect. there's no reason at all to believe that fight would be any different. delving might even be more aggressive to make sure it doesn't go to the cards in a close fight.

he's been a fringe contender for many years now and he's been in some very entertaining fights
tv friendly style certainly, even if he isn't a world class talent.

get him on showtime and HBO damnit!
we gotta reward guys for getting into wars for peanuts with big fights
or they will stop going to war for 10 grand on ESPN

for 40 grand and an opportunity to come back to HBO that guy would leave everything he had in the ring.
      same with wolak.

i also think rodriguez would whoop alexander if he can still make 147

He should hold out for a fight with Canelo or a rematch with Wolak to score a big pay day. Any of the other aforementioned guys would beat him unmerfciful. He is a glorified club fighter at best. His stock is the highest it will ever be right now and he needs to just make sure he gets one good pay day from it. He will be relegated back to journeyman punching bag next year and for the rest of his life.

agree that DR should take advantage of his 'moment in the sun' to get a big fight ASAP against an elite guy -- after he loses that fight, he could then do the rematch with Wolek -- even if he loses that one, there could be a 3rd fight ala Gatti/Ward -- Rodriguez and Wolak are exciting B+ level fighters who would get wiped out against elite guys
